MEC Import Export s.p.a. was born in the 1960s, specializing in the import of cereals and fertilizers.
Due to his advanced age, Mr. Giovanni Merola, strucked by an incurable disease, asked his nephew of the same name to continue the business. He accepted, taking over the shares together with Ms. Malasomma Bianca, maintaining the position of sole director himself.
Since then, the Company has specialized in the trade of domestic and foreign cereals and related products (wheat, corn, soybean meal), achieving continuous and constant growth that lead it to a turnover of 28 million euros in 2018, while maintaining a high flexibility and profitability. Fixed costs, in fact, are made up of the collaboration of very few employees.
In 2018, through the collaboration of new consultant and the return of his son, Salvatore Merola, from various experiences abroad, turnover and profits received new impulses in the field of commodity trading. The company also aims to acquire logistics facilities and invest in the field of renewable energy, complementary to the trading already in place.
In 2019 MEC Import Export reached 37 million in turnover, increasing the volume of business with the same structure and higher efficiency.
Finally, in 2020, the company exceeds 50 million in turnover, increasing, also through the associated company MEC Proteins, Certifications (GTP and equivalent) and Organic raw materials, a continuously growing segment for the group.
